Nisar calls Modi’s statement ‘irresponsible, shameful’

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday said that statement of Narendra Modi – Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate for India's premiership – regarding attacking Pakistan to bring back Dawood Ibrahim was “irresponsible and shameful.”

Narendra Modi had said if he wins the elections he would bring fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim to India to be tried for the 1993 blasts in Mumbai. He told a Gujarati news channel on Saturday that the previous administrations had not tried hard enough.

Dawood stands convicted in absentia in India for the blasts, together with several Mumbai accomplices. Several pro-Modi analysts, including former diplomats, are showing interest in targeting Pakistan-based clerics and other extremists allegedly involved in terror activities in India.

The BJP leader also criticised Indian Home Minister Sushil Kumar, saying political statements were not necessary for bringing back the Indian don.

“Did President Obama hold a press conference regarding US Navy Seals’ operation in Abbottabad for targeting al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden? … Did he issue any statement or held negotiations with Osama? Modi questioned.

Responding to the BJP leader’s criticism, India’s former home minister Chidambaram had said the government cannot send commandos to bring back Ibrahim.

“Modi should first decide where Dawood Ibrahim is living and then he should dream of attacking Pakistan,” Chaudhry Nisar said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.

The interior minister said it seemed that Modi had not learnt a lesson from his “shameful” actions as the chief minister of Gujrat, which earned him a bad name.

He said this statement from an expected Indian prime minister and leader of a major political party was provocative and condemnable showing enmity towards Pakistan.

Narendra Modi had crossed all limits in his enmity towards Pakistan and Muslims, and his election as Indian prime minister would destabilise the region, he added.

The interior minister said those, who were levelling charges that Pakistan was sheltering Dawood Ibrahim and thinking to launch an operation on its soil, should know that neither Pakistan was a weak country to be afraid of such threats, nor the nation could be threatened with such irresponsible statements.

Chaudhry Nisar said the efforts of the Pakistani government for peace in the region should not be construed as its weakness. Its leadership, people and particularly its armed forces have the right and power to pay back in the same coin, he added.

His anti Pakistan statement is an election gimmick to cash audience sentiments as usual. I think his first statement after winning the election would be "We want a cordial and friendly relations with Pakistan", if not, than he is a day dreamer, let him understand that it is not a fun way to rule a country, he will immediately face the real myth of Pakistan.

Modi is giving a hint to the Indian public that if and when he comes to power they should expect a bitter and defensive Pakistan to their western border. Nothing new here. Whenever the BJP comes to power it makes jingoistic claims of making India the best country in the whole wide world economically and militarily, but instead leaves with a weaker India with a greater wealth inequality between the ultra-rich and the poor.

The Army needs to prove its metal by totally destroying TTP,LeJ and such other fissadi organizations and that would send a message that it is capable of defending the country. Otherwise one can claim whatever they want to and no one takes them seriously, One can claim that they are capable of performing 100 pushups but unless and until they don't actually do it, no one is going to take them serious. Pak Army needs to destroy them because by doing so they will once and for all prove to the entire world that they are a capable Army, similar to they way when Hezbullah defeated Israel in 2006 war. The whole world used to write off Hizbullah and now they are taken and heard when they speak. Inshallah in this just war, Pak Army will win but they have to take the initiative and destroy these mountain monkeys.

Did Mr. Modi say that he would attack Pakistan to get Dawood back to India? Heck, he did not even mention Pakistan's name in his statement. It was the home minister and Finance minister of India who said Dawood is in Pakistan. Seems like Mr. Nisar was misinformed by his informers. At least Pakistan media could have checked it and inform him. By the way, such ignorant interior minister is not a good omen for Pakistan.

We must understand that Mr. Modi is a candidate and not an elected leader of India. This is all election rhetoric to win votes from the masses. Modi has also made such rude and offensive remarks against China and the country did not care to respond. Modi is using the power of manipulation through his persuasion in engaging speeches and strategic propaganda techniques to win votes. These are the same techniques Hitler used to sway the masses. Once he is elected , he is going to see the world differently from his office window and all this rhetoric will be thrown out of the window. Both India and Pakistan have nuclear, biological and chemical weapons (NBC) and any miscalculation by one party could have a disastrous effects for both the countries and Modi perfectly understands the consequences of such adventures. Pakistan's interior minister should not respond to such rubbish talk and should focus on reviving the economy. Mr. Nisar, why you are wasting your time and acting as PM of the country, Please concentrate on the internal matters of the country. Thanks

I have never been to India but it seems that the politicians in India too are very very corrupt. The only difference amongst the pakistanis and Indians is that Indians still seem to believe that their politicians care about their country and countrymen. Like how our politicians play the sunni shia mohajir pathan etc etc cards they too use similar tricks upon their trusting crowds. We have stopped expecting any good coming from our politicians but our neighbours still give the impression that their leaders will fulfil what they have been promising. Sooner or later their politicians will make them very mature of the hard realities the way we have been taught OUR LESSON. Believe me they are all the same.

While Modi is no saint I did not see, in his statement where he said that Doud is in Pakistan and he will send commandos into Pakistan. I think Pakistani politicians have a habit of slip on tongue which always brings some sort of controversy. First it was Musharraf who said in India that this proxy war is happening from both ends, which implied that at least this is true from Pakistan end since the former ruler himself admitted it. Now Mr. Nisar saying that Modi can't even dream about attacking Pakistan while Modi did not even mentioned Pakistan's name in his statement. All he said was that he would bring Dawood back to India. Now Dawood could very well be sitting in Timbaktu but the way Mr. Nisar jumped the guns, makes it look that Dawood indeed is in Pakistan.

I was seeing one of his interviews during this election campaign and about pakistan he was saying that " hum ankh dikha ke nahi chal sakte and ankh jhuka ke bhi nahi chal sakte, hame ankh se ankh mila ke chalna pare ga" I think that was quite a mature statement.

Pakistan government should stop negotiating with the outlaws and use all of its force to eliminate and arrest them. The writ of the government must be established at any & all cost throughout the country including all cities and the tribal areas. Additionally, hate speech based on religion or other factors must be banned with at least 15 years in jail as punishment. Take the clue from Malaysia in this respect. Secondly, we need to understand and accept that we can do trade with India but Indians will never be trustworthy friends of Pakistan. Take the clue from facts that we welcome Indians with open arms, whereas they harass even our government officials when they visit India. Slow down the process of giving MFN status to India until they reciprocate. Pakistan should stop begging India for "friendship"

@Amir Bangash Good one, but you see we Indians need either Modi to replicate and expand his state's model of rapid development, removing bureaucratic barriers and corruption, urbanization, infrastructure building, security/defense building, education, forensics etc to the whole of India (we do not mind Kejriwal of AAP fame to do the same either).
In parallel, Maulvi Fazlullah should win elections on JI ticket, increase Madrassas and so much learning, start more FM channels to propagate his learned views on faith and integrity, take the mullah-mil nexus to new heights, maybe IK/PTI can join him too.
That is exactly how the boxing match is arrayed out at this point - all the very best.

Nisar unwittingly let the cat out of the bag as Modi never named Pakistan, but his statement tantamount to an admission that Dawood is living in Pakistan which it had denied several times in the past. Notwithstanding above, Nisar should rather ask its military to first defeat handful of terrorists in Pakistan before taking on the one million strong Indian army.

Interior Minister Ch. Nisar has taken the statement of Modiji seriously believing that what he says he does it. I hope Chaudhry sahib also is aware of the threads given by a senior leader of BJP and one of closest comrade of Modiji in open public speech, that all those Indians ( from any religion or race, cast or creed) not supporting Modiji belongs to Pakistan means should leave for Pakistan. India's current population is more or less about 1.40 billions. If BJP wins the election and advance ultimatum of Modiji's mouth piece and comrade executed then even if half of the population will vote and support Modiji rest half of about 0.70 billions will be evicted to Pakistan. I hope that present Govt and Pakistani nation as a good neighbors will make advance arrangement to welcome about 0.70 billions Indians with open arms as brothers and sisters, sons and daughters and show the best of hospitality till next Indian election or till a liberal leadership comes to power. In spite of all the corruptions of some Pakistani politicians till now never ever any Pakistani politician or worker of any political party or any person even from extremists and terrorists groups, has dared to give open thread that all those Pakistani people not voting and supporting their party leader and agenda will be deported to India? May God bless India and its great people with peace and prosperity.

It is due to lack of education, poverty and misguided anger. the politicians like Modi just take advantage of the emotions of illustrate masses. He will get taste of reality as soon as he get PM. It also shows the gulf of difference between Indian and Pakistan masses. India is the last thing on Pakistani agenda while Pakistan is source of existence to India.

@someone This is the sixth statement coming from an Indian saying Modi did not say Pakistan. Either Indians are totally cognitively challenged gang or they really try to twist everything. There is something call critical analysis. Any educated person can read between the lines. Did he use Obama's example attacking Pakistan? Didn't modi said several times in the past that Pakistan is sheltering Dawood. I think European were correct in moving their call centers to Philippine and Malaysia because they find it too hard to deal with Indians.

Two points I would like to make. First - He said he will do anything to bring back Dawood to be in court. That was the summary. Then you put in words in his mouth like attacking Pakistan. I'm not a Modi supporter, but there is nothing wrong in what he said. If Dawwod lives In Pak, then onus is on Pak to prove it is doing everything to hand him back. Second point - both Modi and Nisar are politicians at first and then citizens of respective countries even though they try to claim the reverse. Both will try to gain any political mileage they can. Mr.Nisar simply added Pakistan name to Modi's sentence and looking at the comments here, he gained good points in Pak. Politics 101 folks,

Mr. Modi never mentioned in his statement that he will attack on any country in order to bring dawood. if dawood is not in pakistan (official position of Pak Govt) then why this statement caused interior minister to give statement like this. Politician are never communal or right wing they are opportunist be it india or pakistan or any where in the world the only difference is that in developed countries, people are educated so they dont give a damn to these politicians and that's why obama has to talk about development and health services. I don't know why pakistan should react. Mr.Dawood was wanted for his involvement in Mumbai blasts.All Mr.Modi said was about bringing him to India - from anywhere in the world.If pakistan reacts, it implies that it assumes Mr.Dawood is in pakistan.Now the whole world knows where Osama Bin Laden was hiding though it professec of having any knowledge of his hiding in pakistan.Hence, if it is sure Mr.Dawood is not in pakistan - there is no reason for it to react.It should look within and see if it has not become a terrorist haven.

Well i had to go through his statement on various channels about it and no where he said "pakistan"... Dawood is criminal as per indian courts and all he said that he would do the needful to bring him to justice... What is the reason for such high profile person from pakistan to give any comments about it... Isnt it natural to bring criminals to justice... Even people of pakistan commenting here, please help me understand where did you read modi saying anything negative about pakistan... for 65 years your leaders have made fools of you by making you believe everyone in India hates pakistan and even till today you take their baseless statement seriously... Nisar made two correct statements, 1) first say where Dawood is then direct your hate speeches. 2) if you are considering any misadventure based on false pretext,in Pakistan you will regret it and you will fail. Pakistan had uncovered a terrorist plan to send Indian commandos into Karachi. Even though pakistani's knew Dawood was not there but they wanted it to go ahead. A deadly SSG team was waiting for them but India got very scared and called it off. This was covered on Ary TV in Khara sach programme.

Pakistan has already made it clear that Dawood is not in Pakistan. Why should the minister be offended when Modi says he will bring him back. Did he say bring him back from Pakistan?
