KARACHI, July 7: Bodies of five youths, drowned on Sunday off the coast of Cape Montz, were fished out Monday morning.

Raheel, 17, Shahzad, 18, Zeeshan, 17, Razzak and Samee were among the seven picnickers who were swept away by strong currents. The body of one victim, Khurram, 18, had been fished out a few hours after the tragedy whereas another person, Tariq, is still unaccounted for despite hectic efforts by lifeguards.

The five bodies recovered on Monday were fished out by life-guards from near Pacha Bander Goth, a restricted area about two kilometres from Cape Montz, In-charge of the Emergency Response Centre, Hawkesbay, Zafar Khan told Dawn.

Later, the bodies were handed over to the Edhi Foundation.

A group of about ten youths had arrived at Cape Montz beach on Saturday night for a picnic. They went into the sea to enjoy bath and swimming but seven of them were swept away by the high tides.

All the victims were residents of Hoti Market, Ranchhor Line, and some of them were classmates in a college, Rizwan Edhi said.
