QUETTA: Three people, including two women, were injured on Monday in a blast in Chaman, the southwestern Pakistani town sharing the border with Afghanistan, police said.

Unknown militants had planted a bomb in a motorcycle parked close to the office of the Deputy Commissioner in Chaman.

A police officer in Chaman, Ashraf Kakar, told Dawn that the target of the blast was the deputy commissioner's office and other nearby offices of law enforcement agencies.

"Two women were also injured when the bomb went off,” he said.

The injured were soon rushed to Civil Hospital Chaman for medical treatment.

A doctor at the hospital who requested anonymity told Dawn that the condition of the women was out of danger.

The blast also smashed the glasses of nearby buildings and homes. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
