TAXILA: The twin cities of Taxila and Wah Cantonment have witnessed a 21 per cent increase in crime during the first quarter of this year.

Despite the fact that the area falls in the constituency of Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, people have no relief from the lawlessness that has gripped Taxila.

According to official police data, there have been 436 reported criminal cases in the area, during the first quarter. Last year, 360 cases were reported to the police within the same quarter.

The data reveals that during the first quarter of this year, from January to March, six murders, two robberies with murders, 15 attempted murders, 11 abductions, 16 motorcycle thefts, four other thefts and five cattle thefts were reported.—Correspondent
