BOMBAY: It is notified that with effect from April 18, G.I.P. railway goods depot at Wadi Bandar will reopen for delivery of goods. Booking of outward goods is however restricted until further notice.

The suburban rail service from the Victoria Terminus was partially restored and a restricted number of trains will run today [April 18]. In some of the affected areas in the city normal business resumed and the police cordon has been lifted in some streets.

Mr. Nagindas T. Master, the Mayor, visited the relief centres in the city. One relief centre has been opened exclusively for women. The Bombay Stock Exchange, which also resumed business today, recorded a sharp drop in prices of insurance shares. The decline is ascribed to fears that insurance companies might have to pay heavy claims due to fire. The fears were stated to be exaggerated and prices improved in the middle of the session.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Labour Member, visited the affected areas and made enquiries about the Labour population affected by the explosions. The Viceroy has donated Rs. 5,000 and the Governor of Bombay Rs. 3,000 to an emergency relief. (Dawn, Delhi)
