KARACHI: Top seed and former Asian under-14 No 1 Nofil Kaleem sent Ebad Sarwar packing to storm into under-16 singles quarter-finals of the Essa Lab Open tennis championship at Karachi Club courts here on Saturday.

The Islamabad-based Nofil, who got a bye in the first round, opened his account while registering a crushing 6-2, 6-0 victory his opponent.

He was joined in the last eight by Hassan Farooq, Dawar Rehan, M. Raza Sawani, Sahibzada Mohammad Ali, and Ilham Khan.

Another top seed Imran Shaukat from Multan cruised into men’s singles quarters by getting the better of Hassan Taj 6-2, 6-0 in second round fixtures. The former got a bye in the first round.
