RAWALPINDI: Armed gangs, who have been active in the city for the last couple of days, committed nine robberies in a single day on Friday.

Potohar division was the worst hit where they struck at six different places and made off with a large sum of cash and 30 cell phones. None of the culprits has been arrested by the police.

Mohammad Usman, one of the robbery victims, in a complaint to Naseerabad police said he was sitting at his shop when three young men walked inside and took him at gunpoint. He said the gunmen took away 29 cell phones and an eye-pad.

Four armed men held Qasir Mehmood, owner of City Bakery Westridge, at gunpoint and deprived him of Rs25,000 and $1,500.

Mohammad Fareed was on way home in his car when he was signaled to stop by two persons near GPO Chowk. When he stopped they forcibly entered his car and snatched Rs185,000 from him and escaped.

Zeeshan Sharif in a complaint to the Naseerabad police said that four armed persons walked into his office and made off with Rs 110,000.

Similarly, two unidentified robbers intercepted Naveed Bashir who runs a cell phone franchise while he was on his way home and snatched Rs126,600 from him and fled.

A was going to Morgah along with his family when two persons in police uniform signaled his car to stop. He said when he stopped his car, the policemen asked him for search and later pulled snatched Rs60, 000 from him on gunpoint.

Mohammad Ijaz was distributing milk packs when two motorbike riders blocked his way and snatched Rs45,000 from him in Sadiqbad.

In Race Course police area, a pharmacist was robbed of Rs60,000 by four gunmen.
