KHAIRPUR: Heavy rain and strong winds battered Khairpur and its adjoining areas on Friday.

It began at 3am and continued till noon, blowing away roofs of some katcha houses in Pirano Pattan area of Nara taluka and uprooting a number of electricity poles in Kathore.

There are reports the rain was accompanied by hail in some areas of Nara taluka, which damaged electricity wires and blew away many signboards near Gambat town.

The rain at this time of the year brought bad tidings to growers as it harmed wheat crop ready for harvest.
