MINGORA: The federal government approved Rs480 million for construction of Chakdara-Kalam Road, said Adviser to Prime Minister Eng Amir Muqam here on Monday.

Talking to different delegations of various areas of Swat, he said that work on the project would be started from May 1 and it would be completed within three months.

Mr Muqam said that they were striving to resolve the issues and problems being faced by people of the far-flung areas of Swat. The federal government was committed to resolve the issues of the people in upper parts of the district, he added.

Mr Muqam said that the government approved Rs480 million for the construction of road from Chakdara to Kalam valley. “All necessary requirements will be fulfilled soon and work is expected to start on the project from May 1,” he added.

The adviser to prime minister said that it was planned to complete the project within three months to promote tourism in the scenic valley and provide essay access to the people of hilly areas to Mingora city.

SERMON: Prominent religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil said on Monday that Islam was a complete code of life, which taught its followers to serve humanity.

Delivering a sermon here at Faizabad, he said that it was necessary for each Muslim to treat others politely. Muslims should study the life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), he added.

Maulana Tariq Jamil said that women had rights in Islam that should be given to them. “If we treat women according to the injunctions of Islam then they can play their role in looking after children in a better way,” he added.

He said that teachers should guide their students with care and love. He said that Islam taught Muslims the way of love and peace. People could be attracted towards virtues by using soft language instead of harsh words, he added.

NEWS WRITING: A student of the department of media and communication studies, University of Swat got first position in news writing competition while a student of department of computer and software technology secured second position in E-games contest, held in connection with ‘Youth Carnival’ in Islamabad.

The event was organised by Institute of Space Technology wherein more than 500 students of 40 different universities across the country took part.

A total of 14 students of University of Swat participated in different categories including news writing, film making, photography and E-games. Haroon Siraj, student of media and communication studies department won first position in the news writing while Waseem, a student of computer and software technology department, secured second position in E-games competition.

University of Swat Vice-chancellor Prof Jahanzeb Khan congratulated the winners and hoped that the series of success would be maintained in future as well.
