KARACHI, July 6: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has directed the departments concerned to ensure the drainage of rainwater from the rain affected areas of the province.

He ordered the district coordination officers to review the situation of rain-hit areas in their respective districts and immediately arrange for drainage especially in the towns and cities besides improving the cleanliness system.

The chief minister asked the health department to take precautionary steps to cope with the threat of various diseases in the province caused by the rains.

He also ordered that medicines be made available at the Tehsil and district hospitals so the locals could be provided with full treatment there without any delay.

The chief minister directed the irrigation department to take emergency steps for strengthening all embankments and to gear up surveillance on them, including those of canals.

No negligence would be tolerated in this regard, he warned.—APP
