CHITRAL: The provincial president of PTI Azam Swati has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will give top priority to Chitral district in development projects to bring it at par with the developed districts of the province within five years.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that past rulers had neglected the district as a result of which even basic amenities of life were not available to the people.

He said that as per the vision of the party chief Imran Khan, the provincial government would fully utilise the local resources which included hydro-electric potential and minerals.

Mr Swati said that the government had planned to launch work on two power projects in the district with a view to benefit from the availability of abundant water resources in Chitral.

He said projects would be launched to exploit mineral resources which would create job opportunities for thousands of unemployed youth.

Later, he also addressed a workers’ convention. Local PTI leaders, Fozia Bibi, Abdul Latif Khan and Rahmat Ghazi, also spoke on the occasion.
