KARACHI: Paceman Aamir Panhwar grabbed a match haul of 16 wickets to propel Larkana into the final of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Grade-II cricket tournament with a two-day victory over Dera Murad Jamali in Multan on Tuesday.

After claiming eight for 46 in the first innings at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, Aamir captured eight for 48 as Dera Murad Jamali were shot out for 105 in their second innings having resumed the second day of the three-day game at 4-2.

Only Abid Ali (42) and Faizullah (32) managed to make meaningful scores as Aamir ended up with magnificent match figures of 16 for 94.

Having conceded a first-innings lead of 34, Larkana needed 140 to book their place in the April 14-17 final against the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), who won two of their four fixtures to top the standings in the event played on a double league basis.

Larkana duly achieved their target by reaching 141-6 in 37.4 overs to emerge victorious by four wickets with Mohammad Urs hitting up an undefeated 38 and Bilal Irshad scoring 30. Faizullah followed up his 5-40 in the first innings with 3-64, giving the paceman match bag of 8-104.

Larkana finished second in the standings behind Fata with both sides winning two of their four games, while Dera Murad Jamali lost three and drew one match.

Meanwhile, both Larkana and Dera Murad Jamali will face each other in the last league game of the one-day tournament on Friday. The winners — who have won one match apiece — will qualify for the April 19 against Fata who completed their preliminary-round matches with three victories from four fixtures.

The first-round of matches in both the tournaments was staged in Hyderabad last month.
