TAXILA: The Army contingent clenched the title of the champions at the 53rd National Basketball Championship, by beating its arch rival, the Air Force, at the POF Sports Complex on Monday.

It was arguably the best encounter of the entire event, as quality basketball was witnessed between the two sides, in which Pakistan Army beat Pakistan Air Force by 74-48.

Atif of Pakistan Army was declared the best player of the championship.

Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain and Minister for Safron Retired Lt-Gen Abdul Qadir Balouch were the chief guests who distributed prizes among the players.

Speaking on the occasion, the president of Pakistan Basketball Federation, Mohammad Asif, said numerous sports events had been held at POF Sports Complex and hoped that POF would continue to play its role for the promotion of sports in future.
