LAHORE, July 5: Lawyers on Saturday gave a half-day strike call for July 10 to protest against the Quetta carnage, and demanded resignation of the interior minister for failing to control terrorism in the country.

Speaking at a press conference, the office-bearers of the Pakistan Bar Council, Supreme Court Bar Association, Lahore High Court Bar Association and the Lahore Bar Association flayed the killings, and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

“The lawyers will go on a strike on July 10 after 10:30am to mark their protest against the recent killings,” they announced.

They alleged that the government had failed to crack down on those creating religious disharmony in the country, asking the interior minister to quit his office forthwith.

INVITATION: The MMA leaders invited the legal fraternity to attend the All-Party Conference to be held on Friday.

A delegation of the MMA leaders, headed by Liaquat Baloch, met the LHCBA office-bearers and gave them the invitation. The delegation assured support to the lawyers for their anti-LFO stance.
