ISLAMABAD: Station house officers (SHO) of 11 police stations were reshuffled by the assistant inspector general (AIG) of police, on the recommendation of the zonal chief superintendents of police (SP), on Saturday, police sources said.

SHO Bhara Kahu, Inspector Mohammad Aslam, was removed from the post after the recovery of an illegally detained man, in connection with the gang rape case. The man was recovered from the habeas corpus of the police, by a court bailiff.

Inspector Abdul Satar Shah has been appointed the new SHO Bhara Kahu, the officials said, adding that Inspector Shah has served at different police stations as SHO, but he was removed from his previous duties over his bad reputation and poor performance.

Inspector Ashiq Mehmood has been appointed as the in-charge of Sihala police station.

A month ago, he was removed from the post of SHO Tarnol over his poor performance, and since then, he was working under the supervision of a policeman of the same rank as him.

The SHO Sihala, Inspector Haider Ali, has been removed and transferred to Rescue-15.

Inspector Iftikhar Chatha, an investigation officer of the judges’ detention case against the former president retired Gen Pervez Musharraf, has been appointed as the SHO Koral.

The former SHO Koral, Inspector Najeeb Shah, was removed and transferred to Shahzad Town police station, where he was given the post of additional SHO.

Inspector Qaser Niaz Gillani has been appointed as the in-charge of Shalimar police station, after Inspector Shoukat Thabal was removed from that post and transferred to the security wing.

Inspector Zulfikar Ahmed has been removed from the post of SHO Sabzi Mandi, and transferred to the anti-riot unit, while Inspector Asjad Mehmood has been appointed as the SHO Sazbi Mandi police station.

The police officials said that the removals and transfers were made on the recommendation of the SPs, as they assured the AIG that the crime rate would dampen if the deserving officers were given to them.
