KARACHI, July 4: A woman was shot dead by her relatives in Mohammadi Colony TPX on Friday.

Police said that Shamim, 30, was shot in the face by her two relatives Regat Khan and Asghar Khan in her house in Mohammadi Colony. The suspects escaped after the attack.

The injured woman was rushed to the Civil Hospital where she died during treatment.

SHOT DEAD: A suspect died in an exchange of fire with the police on Friday morning in Mohammadi Colony TPX.

Police said three persons were sitting at the railway tracks in Mohammadi Colony. Two policemen patrolling on a motorcycle noticed them. As they approached the suspects they opened fire in a bid to flee from the spot.

Police returned the fire injuring a suspect who was later identified as Umar Shakoor, a notorious drug-peddler wanted in several cases.

His two accomplices managed to escape in the dark, police added.

Police said the suspect died before he could be shifted to the Civil Hospital. Umar was wanted in at least 11 criminal cases of various nature. Police recovered a pistol and ammunition from his possession.

DROWNS: Body of a four-year-old boy was fished out from an open storm drain in Akhtar Colony on Friday.

Police said that Naveed Ahmed Qureshi had fallen into an open drain in Akhtar Colony on Thursday. The area residents on Friday fished out his body from the drain.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

FISHED OUT: Unidentified body of a man was recovered from the sea near Native’s Jetty on Friday.

Police said the man was in his mid 30’s. The body was shifted to the Edhi cold storage , police added.

ROBBED: Gold ornaments worth about Rs30,000 were stolen in a house robbery in Kausar Town Malir on Thursday.

The Khokhrapar police on Friday morning registered an FIR of the robbery. Police said that complainant Shafiuddin Ashraf, an employee of Dawn, lodged a compliant at the Khokhrapar police station on Friday, that unknown persons entered his house, R-50 in Kausar Town Malir, on Thursday, when Mr Ashraf was at work and the rest of the family were away.

The neighbours informed Mr Ashraf of the robbery. When he arrived he found all the household articles upside down. The door has also been broken down.
