KARACHI: A resolution moved in the Sindh Assembly on Friday condemned in the strongest words the threat by the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi militant group to PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari seeking action for his protection.

The resolution, tabled by PPP-MPA Dr Abdul Sattar Rajpar, with signatures of a number of lawmakers recommended to the Sindh government to approach the federal government to take the threat very seriously and ensure necessary action for the protection of the PPP chairman.

The session, which was called to order at 11.20am, took up four resolutions in all besides the completion of the business from order of the day.

One of the resolutions, which was tabled by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sikander Mandhro, pertained to resolution of the assembly to observe Earth Hour on the last Saturday of March every year and reiterated its commitment to celebrate World Environment Day, World Wetlands Day, World Forest Day, World Water Day, Earth Day, World Migratory Bird Day, International Day for Biological Diversity, World Turtle Day, World Ocean Day and UN Day to combat Desertification and Drought, World Nature Conservation Day, International Vulture Awareness Day, World Maritime Day, World Habitat Day, International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction, International Day for Rural Women, International Day for Climate Action, World Fisheries Day, World Energy Conservation Day.

The third resolution, moved by MQM lawmaker Sumeta A. Syed, condemned the kidnapping and murder of a health worker in Peshawa and sought arrest of killers.

The fourth resolution, which was tabled by Khurram Sherzaman of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, stated the assembly resolved that first aid be provided to every injured or casualty case that arrived at government and private hospitals in the province.
