MUZAFFARABAD, July 2: A man was killed and four women were injured in the Poonch district of Azad Kashmir Tuesday in unprovoked Indian shelling, police said on Wednesday.

Mohammad Ashraf, 22, son of Nur Hussain, was killed and his mother Kali Begum was injured when a mortar shell landed on their house in Darra Sher Khan village on Tuesday, police said.

Police said shelling started in Hajira Sector at 8pm on Tuesday and continued throughout the night in intervals during which three other women — Kaki Begum, Maryam, and Yasmeen — were also injured.
