OKARA: The administration seized three mini trucks, loaded with 5,000kg of dead and sick chicken that was being transported to Lahore from Multan.

Nine members of the gang involved in the crime were also arrested and booked. The gang used to supply dead and substandard meat to various cities.

District Livestock Officer Dr Muhammad Ashraf and Assistant Commissioner (AC) Chaudhry Tahir Amin with a police team intercepted the mini trucks on Sunday night and arrested the gang when they were on their way to Lahore.

Those arrested were identified as Abdur Razzaq, Imran, Boota, Amir of Nankana Sahib, Shaukat, Fareed, Ahmad, Khalid and Khawar.

The dead meat was discarded immediately. — Correspondent
