How can NFP just ignore the criminal negligence of the Sindh Government. It seems like he likes to blame PTI and other right wing parties for all the problems in Pakistan. PPP, MQM and ANP should be able to get away with everything in NFP's world. He conveniently overlooks what these three had done in Karachi when they were in power.

Trolls from a *particular* infamous party are at the forefront of the faux outrage against the drought in Thar. And I can see Shireen Mazari seething with even more than usual anger after reading this, directing all the party's twitter vigilantes to this page to post angry, inane comments. By the way did you hear PTI claiming to be "liberal nationalist" party (whatever that means). Hehe. I guess that deserves a whole satire piece of its own!

Superb work as always. What I don't understand is why some people get all worked up when they are shown a mirror? This might be a satire, and excellent one at that, but there is a lot of truth in this and if people (they know who they are) read this objectively, they will see their true reflection in this. Please read and try to improve yourself instead of blindly following their party.

Looking at the responses below seems like NFP has really rattled PTI fans this time around. But really this campaign has PLM-N's signatures all over it targetting Bilawal and the popularity he gained from the "cultural event". PPP had no idea what hit them until it was too late. They somewhat deserve it too since this is not new a phenomena and happens almost every year there is little or no rain, to varying degrees but the management of it is where they either do not care or turn a blind eye, and since they have been ruling the province for the most no. of years in recent past they should have done better.

Expressing outrage is one thing but for thar famine total responsibly lies ON the shoulders OF ppp. Government in sind. They should be the target of satire in this article. Pti has. Nothing to do with it.

I am surprised that many find this piece funny; by referring to the tragedy in Thar to show his funny side, NFP has actually shown his insensitive side.

Facts: 1. People in Thar has been dying from famine and diseases for years. 2. The Sind government (namely PPP) has absolutely no interest in serving people of Thar (in fact, even federal government has no real love lost for them) 3. PPP has ruled Sindh for last 4 decades or so. Done nothing to improve the quality of life of the people it has been entrusted to serve. 4. And yes, NFP is right, I (the middle class) doesn't really have much empathy for these dying people either. I rather eat my burger and comment here afterwards. 5. Media also does not have any long term interest in the people of Thar. Its just another "popular" story for them. No one will talk about people of Thar after a month or so. 6. NFP also has no interest either. He is protecting his beloved PPP by accusing all the others (mainly myself) of hypocrisy. Yes, we are all hypocrites, including NFP, myself, the media, PPP and all the other political parties. Can I please have my burger back now?

What was the point of this 'whatever it was'? It wasn't clever, or funny. It rambled on a bunch of topics that had nothing to do with hundreds of children dying in Thar. Well as long as NFP can feel superior to keyboard jihadis, Dawn will continue to humor him. I especially enjoyed the fact that every issue under the sun was included except the Government of Sind. How is this satire?

The funniest part of this article is how the PPP govt is not directly blamed for this disaster in Thar. Why somebody would take this opportunity to go and attack PTI instead of actually condemning the govt who is willing to spend upwards of Rs 2 billion in copying Superman for its cultural farce rather than build infrastructure and get food to where it is needed most?

Funny no doubt, but what the heck does it have to do with Thar, except the usual face saving for PPP. It has been a PPP governed province for ages, and like it or hate it, they have been incompetent administrators even if we allow for NFP's love for the feudals that he defends tooth and nail. And those burps that he mentions in the very first post would exactly be like how Qaim Ali Shah would have reacted to the news in Thar.

NFP, I'm quite amused by the compulsive IK-bashing and PTI-bashing in your writings, even when the subject is (at best) tangential to the topic at hand. What you've unwittingly done is, you've helped mainstream PTI and IK like no one else has and you've subconsciously acknowledged that PTI is most relevant opponent for PPP supporters like you to target (assuming interior Sindh remains impoverished, malnourished and uneducated and therefore PPP remains a viable political force in the country, Heaven forbid).
