Sindh Festival

Published February 14, 2014

WITHOUT discussing whether the Sindh Festival is a success, I would like to ask: has the festival attracted people towards culture and heritage preservation? I wouldn’t talk about whether the show presented on the opening day at Moenjodaro was in line with Sindhi culture.

My only concern is the money spent on it. Millions of rupees have just been wasted for nothing.

Even Sindh-government resources have been used on the programme.

Again without debating on the damage done to the ancient sight during the installation of the stage, I will say the money spent on the festival should have been spent on the poor people of the area.

This area is known as Bhutto’s constituency. In the near future, it might be the constituency of Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

Keeping this in mind, it would have been better for Bilawal to distribute the money among the needy and the destitute of the region. By doing this, he would have gained more political mileage.
