HYDERABAD: Three friends lost their lives and another one was serious injured when their car dashed against a road divider and then a tree on Fatima Jinnah Road in the early hours of Friday. The vehicle was completely destroyed.

The deceased were identified as Ghulam Rasool aka Anam Shah, 27, son of Syed Munir Shah, Danish Chandio, 26, son of Ashiq Chandio and Tariq, 27, son of Talib. The injured victim was identified as Tariq’s brother, Arif. All the victims were residents of the city’s Saddar area.

The car was driven by Ghulam Rasool, at a breakneck speed according to some onlookers, who was to return to Australia soon to resume his studies of business administration. He was the only son of his parents and a nephew of an Anti-Corruption Establishment official, Syed Bashir Shah. Danish was also the only son of his parents.

Bashir Shah told Dawn that he had learnt through the policeman on duty in the area that the car driver might have lost control of his vehicle due to the breakneck speed upon spotting a truck coming from the opposite side. In his attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the car driver might have hit the divider and the tree, he guessed.

Mr Shah said the impression created by car tyres’ chafe against road stretched over a distance of some 200 feet which showed the driver tried hard to stop the car.

A large number of people attended funeral of the deceased, who were buried in the Cantonment Graveyard.
