Rashid’s all-round display in vain

KARACHI, Dec 14: Paragon Constructors picked up the glittering Paragon Cup 2001, by beating Malir Gymkhana by 42 runs at the UBL A ground Friday.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first Paragon Constructors reached 177 for nine in their 25 stipulated overs with Shahid Afridi (36), Humayun Farhat (30), Sajid Ali (23) and Imran Nazir (20), getting the runs.

Slow left-arm spinner Rashid Hanif was easily the pick of the bowlers in the fielding side, capturing four wickets for only 14 runs in his five over spell.

Malir Gymkhana in reply were restricted to 135 for nine in their 25 overs. Aley Haider (38), Rashid Hanif (23) and M. Hasnain (22), made a brief fightback that went all in vain. Off-spinner Sohaib Malik bagged two for 19 and Waqas weighed in with two for 20.
