ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority reduced on Tuesday tariff for customers of the Karachi Electric Supply Company (now renamed as K-Electric) by seven paisa per unit under monthly fuel adjustment.

According to a notification, the fuel cost was slashed by 3 paisa per unit for July last year when the company sold about 1.42 billion units. Fuel cost was reduced by 43 paisa per unit for August when the company sold 1.4bn units and increased by 39 paisa for September when 1.39bn units were sold. The total impact of fuel cost for three months resulted in reduction of average tariff by 7 paisa per unit.

Nepra said the tariff adjustment would be passed on to consumers during the billing month of February.

The regulator also issued tariff determination for the Multan Electric Power Company for the current financial year. It said the tariff for consumers using less than 50 units should be kept unchanged and for 1-101 units should be reduced by 50 paisa per unit. The tariff for 101-300 units has been proposed to be increased by Rs1.25 and 301-700 units by 25 paisa. Nepra proposed a reduction of 50 paisa for commercial and industrial and 80 paisa for agricultural consumers.
