PESHAWAR: Eid Miladun Nabi was observed with religious zeal amid tight security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.

Several processions were taken out in the province and special prayers were offered in mosques besides distribution of free food among the poor.

In Peshawar, a number of events were organised by traders and religious organizations where special sessions of naat khwani and darood were arranged.

The events were held under tight security as heavy contingents of police were deployed in the provincial metropolis and pillion riding was banned.

The Afghan nationals were not allowed to move freely in the sensitive areas of the city.

Meanwhile, Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah lauded the law enforcement agencies and district administration for making appropriate arrangements for protection of people on Eid Milad.

He also appreciated the people belonging to different schools of thought for extending cooperation to the government in maintaining peace on the occasion.

In Mansehra, speakers at a seminar on Wednesday said that until the concept of justice and equality taught by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was not adopted in letter and spirit by the government functionaries, the country could not be steered out of the current crises.

The seminar, organised by district administration, was attended by religious scholars of all sects and officers of different departments.

Maulana Hidayatullah Shah, Maulana Rafiqur Rehman Qamar, Maulana Saeed Abullah, Maulana Qazi Khalil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tasleem Khan, Assistant Commissioner Dr Qasim Ali Khan, Maulana Qudratullah Qadri, Maulana Hafizur Rehman, Wasiur Rehman and district revenue officer Khan Afsar Khan addressed the seminar.

“We are firm believers of Sharia of Muhammad (PBUH), who spent days and weeks without food but even a single penny was not withdrawn from the treasure for him and his family,” Maulana Haydaitullah said.

Maulana Saeed said that Muhammad (PBUH) not only ended discrimination between his followers and non-followers but also asked his followers to do the same.

He said that last sermon delivered by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ended all sorts of discrimination as it was a charter of humanity.

In Swabi, Eid Milad was observed with traditional zeal and religious fervour.

A function was held in Ghausia Mosque at Right Bank Colony Tarbela Dam. A procession was taken out from the mosque that passed through different routes and culminated at the ground of the mosque.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl also organised a conference wherein speakers said that Islam was religion of peace and brotherhood but the anti-Islam forces were plotting to defame it.

The speakers urged Muslims to forge unity and restore peace in Muslim states.

Important public and private buildings, mosques and streets across the district were decorated with lights, green flags, colourful buntings and banners. Speech contests were also arranged in various schools to highlight different aspects of the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH).

In Kohat, people had illuminated Milad Chowk with colourful lights. Two processions taken out from Zargran Bazaar and Milad Chowk ended at Company Park peacefully.

A naat competition was also held in the district. MNA Sheryar Afridi, who was chief guest on the occasion, distributed prizes among the winners.

In Buner, a function was organised at Jamia Masjid Darbar Pir Baba on Tuesday wherein naat khwani and sermons sessions were held. On the occasion, free food was also distributed among the people.

In Dera Isamil Khan, processions and rallies were organised on Tuesday to celebrate Eid Milad.

The district administration put security at high alert and heavy contingents of police were deployed on the rout of processions.
