Each Union Council (UC) has 13 seats including chairman, vice chairman and 11 members.

According to the statistics provided by assistant director local government Attock district Jhangir Akhtar Mirza, 125 candidates filed nominations for 18 seats of Attock tehsil municipal committee.

In Taxila, 350 candidates hailing from different political parties and groups filed their nominations for 22 wards of Taxila municipality.

The returning officers received the papers from the candidates.

Meanwhile, some candidates agitated against the condition of assets declaration. The condition is not applicable to the candidates standing for the chairman or vice-chairman but the returning officers were still asking them to fill the column.

Since most of the candidates applying for posts were not well-versed in English, they thronged different lawyers’ chambers to get them filled.

After delimitation, there are 22 wards in the tehsil comprising urban and rural areas of Taxila and Wah.

The scrutiny of the papers in Attock and Taxila was carried out on Saturday by the returning officers concerned and objections will be submitted on December 29 and the list of the candidates will be finalized on December 30.
