ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday reserved its judgment on the intra-court appeal filed against the formation of a special court to try former military ruler Pervez Musharraf in the treason trial, DawnNews reported.

A two-member bench of the IHC comprising of Chief Justice Anwar Kansi and Justice Shaukat Siddiqui resumed the hearing on the intra-court appeal.

In his plea the applicant had stated that the notification regarding the formation of a special court should be cancelled as it was not in accordance with the Constitution and law of Pakistan.

During the hearing, Justice Siddiqui said the decision of hold Musharraf’s trial was taken by the government, and that the person on trial had himself not objected the move.

The court reserved its judgment over the intra-court appeal after the completion of arguments, without giving any time for the announcement of the verdict.

The government had announced on Nov 18 that Musharraf would be tried under Article 6 of the Constitution for to conspiring against the 1973 Constitution by declaring emergency and overthrowing the superior judiciary in November 2007.

The former president would have to appear before a special court on Dec 24, the date of the upcoming hearing of the treason case.
