LAHORE: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) secretary Rana Mujahid has confirmed the financial position of the federation is not satisfactory and Pakistan will not be able to participate in any international event if the government does not release the grant well on time.

Addressing a press conference to announce details of the national hockey championship, which is starting here from Thursday, Mujahid said the PHF was in contact with the federal government to get the grant.

He added the PHF had no plans for the time being to hold training camp of the national team for its participation in the next Azlan Shah Cup, to be held in Malaysia in April next year, due to the financial crisis.

The secretary said the championship would be played at the Johar Stadium here from Dec 19 to 29.
