KARACHI, June 19: A young man who had attempted suicide in Surjani Town earlier died at the hospital on Thursday.

Police said that Musavir Husain, 29, had consumed some poisonous substance in his house in Surjani town a few days ago. He was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Police said the young man had been jobless for the past several months.

ROBBERY: Three armed men robbed the house of a PIA official in Bilal Colony in the Korangi Industrial Area on Thursday.

According to Mohammad Yousaf, a PIA public relations officer, three unknown armed men barged into his house in sector 8-A KIA at eleven in the morning and held the family hostage at gunpoint.

They collected valuables which included jewellry worth 264 gms, cash Rs19,035, prize bonds worth Rs100,000, and several other valuables.

Mr Yousaf, who was at work at the time of the robbery, said the robbers locked the door while fleeing the house.

The police station concerned registered the first information report after much delay. Initially they tried to hush up the matter.

ELECTROCUTED: A young factory worker died of electrocution while working in an industrial unit in the Korangi Industrial Area on Thursday.

Police said that Abid Husain, 31, suffered an electric jolt working at a towel factory in I Area KIA.

INVESTIGATION: The investigation police probing the case of Mr Shamsuddin N. Mavani, ruled out the aspect of suicide in the death of the victim.

Shamsuddin, a builder, died of gunshot on June 16 in his residence in DHA Phase II.

DSP Investigation Syed Zahid Shah told Dawn that on the basis of initial investigation, the victim’s death occurred during a struggle between the deceased and his security guard. However, the matter is still under investigation.
