KARACHI, June 13: Sindh minister for culture and tourism, Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, handed over a cheque of Rs200,000 to famous singer Mujeeb Alam and gave Rs30,000 to Sindhi folk artist Misri Faqir Deeplai.

The minister, along with Culture, Tourism, Sports and Youth Affairs, Social Welfare and Women Development Secretary Gul Mohammad Unrani, visited the house of Mujeeb Alam at Gulshan-e-Memar and gave him the cheque.

The minister enquired about his health and assured the artist of government support for his treatment.

He also gave Rs30,000, in cash, to famous Sindhi folk artist Misri Faqir Deeplai, who had been performing at radio and television since 1971, at his office today.

The minister had also forwarded a recommendation to the chief minister for sanctioning another grant of Rs200,000 for Misri Faqir, said a handout on Friday.—PPI
