PEB camps in full swing

PESHAWAR, June 12: The U-15 and U-18 hockey camps of Pakistan Education Boards (PEB) got under way at poligrass turf of S.M. Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium here on Thursday.

The two teams will participate in the forthcoming Six-aside World Junior Hockey Championship to be held at Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium, Ipoh, Malaysia from June 21, 2003.

Camp commandant Mahabat Khan said that selection of the teams has been made on merit by the selection committee and expressed the hope that the boys would exhibit excellent performance in the tournament.

He said, both Under-15 and Under-18 teams would remain under rigorous training till their departure for Malaysia on June 20.

Under-15 team:

Farrukh kaleem (Islamabad), Azam Gulsher (Karachi), Kamran Shafqat (Hyderabad), Muhammad Akram, Muhammad Shahbaz Ahmed (Sargodha), Agha Muhammad Baqar (Faisalabad), Rashid Mahmood (Bahawalpur), Haseeb Ullah (Hyderabad). Professor Syed Sultan Abbas will the manager while Azhar Ali, Hyderabad, has been named coach of the team.

Under-18 team:

Shakeel Ahmed (Larkana), Shaikh Tariq Hafeez (Hyderabad), Faheem Zafar (Faisalabad), Muhammad Irfan (Bahawalpur), Adeel Akram (Sargodha), Sajjad Hussain (Kohat), Muhammad Uzair (Quetta), Ibrahim Khan (Peshawar), Syed Ali Mehdi (Karachi), Waqar Hussain (GK) (Abbottabad), Muhammad Qasim Akram (Faisalabad).

Ali Nawaz Palijo and Muhammad Ramzan Jamali (Larkana) will be the manager and coach of the two teams.—APP
