KARACHI: Restoration of perks demanded

Published November 19, 2001

KARACHI, Nov 18: A number of KBCA officials, whose probationary period expired a long time ago, have urged the KDA DG to get their probationary period officially terminated, enabling them to avail of the employment benefits.

They alleged that the KBCA administration was delaying the termination of their probationary period, thus depriving them of their annual increments and other perks.

They said at a time when a departmental promotion committee had been formed to consider the cases of promotions and move-overs in B-17 to B-19, it was imperative upon the authorities to consider their genuine demand.

They said since they had even crossed the maximum limit of the probationary period, their probation should have automatically been terminated, and quoted the KDA Service Order’s Chapter IV (Section 39-C) which inter alia says: “If no order have been passed by the date on which the maximum additional period of probation expires, the employee’s probationary period shall be deemed to have been terminated with effect from the date on which the period of probation was last extended or may be deemed to have been so extended.”
