LAHORE, Nov 24: The Federal Revenue Alliance Employees Union has urged the chief justice of Pakistan to take note of the alleged occupation of 4,000 acres of Federal Board of Revenue land in Karachi.

The land in Hawke’s Bay had been allotted to the then Central Board of Revenue soon after partition, but due to carelessness of the authorities concerned the property was occupied by land grabbers, said the union’s Central President Mian Abdul Qayyum on Sunday.

He said after retrieval the land could be utilised to set up a housing colony with medical and educational institutions for FBR employees who did not have proper residential facilities in Karachi.

He said the National Industrial Relation Commission (NIRC) had recently approved internal election of the union for the next three years besides allowing it to amend the constitution. NIRC member Shaukat Goraya also rejected all complaints filed against the union.
