LAHORE, Nov 11: The second Long beach Open Tennis Championship will begin at the Bagh-i-Jinnah Centre here on Tuesday.

Rashid Malik, the former Pakistan coach and seasoned Davis Cupper, said top-ranked players including those who had been selected for the next Davis Cup tie namely Mohammad Abid, Usman Rafiq, Faizan Khurram and many other notable players, would feature in the event.

Overall, he said, 100 boys and girls besides men would take part. While the men’s open competition is also included, the boys will compete separately in U-12 and 14 age categories, too, which would end on Nov 18. The girls will compete only in the U-18 event.

Meanwhile, Rashid said soon after the Long Beach Open the Punjab Open Tennis Championship would be held at the same venue from Nov 23 to 26. He said another Punjab-level tournament would be staged from Dec 12 to 17.

In the end, the Salamat School Tennis Championship is also scheduled to be organised from Dec 25 to 30. —Sports Reporter
