ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah Tuesday urged the people to unite and assured fullest cooperation to the government in resolving the issues confronting the country.

Taking part in a motion moved by Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid, he said dictators had brought the war of others into the country.

He said it was the opinion of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) that the policies of dictators have created problems.

Referring to the All Parties Conference (APC), he said the opposition had given a mandate to the government for holding a dialogue with the Taliban.

The opposition wants to strengthen the country’s democratic institutions and does not want to give a tough time to the government, he said.

The opposition does not want to play politics on critical issues, the opposition leader said, adding that Pakistanis should jointly convey to the world that achieving peace is an imperative for the country’s progress and prosperity.

He said the opposition should be briefed on the details of the prime minister’s visit to United States and blamed the government for being confused in properly tackling the issue of drone attacks.

He said a drone did not strike the country for the first time and that a number of wanted Taliban leaders were killed in past attacks.
