KARACHI, June 6: The relatives of the workers, who died in a tragic incident at Pakistan Steel Mills in June 2001, staged a token hunger strike at the Karachi Press Club on Friday.

They were of the view that incident of burning alive in the molten iron at mills was due to negligence of the management, led by its chairman, but despite a lapse of two years no action had been taken against the responsible personnel.

The relatives of nine deceased employees of the mills, including females, as well as office holders of the Joint Action Committee of Pakistan Steel Employees staged a token hunger strike, demanding immediate removal of the PS chairman and institution of a judicial enquiry in the incident.
