SUKKUR, Oct 22: A man shot dead his sister in the name of honour in Haroon Jatoi village near Pano Akil on Tuesday.

According to villagers, Makhdoom Jatoi suspected his sister Firdous, 20, of being fond of someone.

The Baiji police arrested Jatoi along with a pistol he had said to have used in the murder and shifted the body to the Pano Akil taluka hospital. It was handed over to relatives after a post-mortem examination.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.

Woman seeks protection

A married woman arrived at the Mirpur Mathelo police station on Tuesday from Hayat Pitafi village in Ghotki district and sought protection from her husband who she said routinely subjected her to inhuman torture.

Ms Rukhsana complained that she had had enough of her husband Ali Hassan’s excesses and said she feared for her life, said police.

Police produced the woman in the district and sessions court of Ghotki, which sent her to Darul Aman in Sukkur.

Nine villagers booked

The Mirpur Mathelo police lodged a case on Tuesday against nine villagers on charges of engaging in an encounter with police in Dino Mako village.

Sub-Inspector Qalander Bux Leghari lodged the case as complainant that nine persons had engaged in an encounter with police in Dino Mako village.—BoC
