LAHORE, Oct 21: The Lahore High Court on Monday overruled an objection raised by the registrar office on a petition challenging the constitution of an ad hoc committee by the prime minister to run affairs of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The office had objected to the maintainability of the petition saying the petitioner was not an aggrieved party in the case.

Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan set aside the objection and admitted the petition for hearing. The court will start hearing next week.

Aftab Maqsood filed the petition saying the prime minister, also patron-in-chief of the PCB, did not have the authority to constitute an interim management committee. He pleaded that the PM acted beyond his powers only to benefit his blue-eyed people.

The petitioner pleaded that the PM was bound to hold PBC elections without any delay to implement the Constitution. He prayed to the court to set aside the interim management committee and direct the board patron-in-chief to hold elections.
