KARACHI, Oct 9: The International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Wednesday announced the schedule for the forthcoming men’s Junior World Cup being staged in New Delhi from Dec 6 to 15 this year.

Sixteen of the world’s finest junior teams will fight it out for the title at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium with the game’s giants such as Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Argentina, South Korea, Pakistan and hosts India among the challengers.

The tournament features four pools of four teams each followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, classification and medal matches. Pool ‘A’ features Germany, Pakistan, Belgium and Egypt while pool ‘B’ comprises Australia, Spain, Argentina and France.

The Netherlands, South Korea, India and Canada will challenge each other in pool ‘C’ with England, New Zealand, South Africa and Malaysia going head to head in pool ‘D’.

The opening day of the tournament will feature all sixteen teams taking to the field.

The action begins in pool ‘C’ when Korea face Canada before a clash between pool ‘B’ rivals Australia and Argentina on Dec 6.—APP
