MIRPURKHAS, June 1: The director, Local Government Planning, Monitoring and Allocation Cell, Sindh, Dr Sikandar Ali Panhwar, has suggested that for making the district system effective, administrative powers should also be given to district Nazims and police department should also be placed under district Nazims.

He was speaking at a meeting held here at the Darbar Hall on Friday.

He said that the district government system would continue and there was no reason to think about it otherwise.

Sikandar Ali Panhwar said that the government was strengthening the district government system and giving more power so that the problems of the common man could be solved at the local level.

District Nazim Pir Shafqat Shah Jilani said it was the best system but required clarity regarding powers of district Nazims.

He said the education and health departments are included in our priorities, but even after the passing of two years there was no visible change.

He complained that the director general, health services, Sindh, was interfering in district matters.

He demanded that the government should stop him from such practices.

The meeting was attended by the district Nazim, Mirpurkhas, Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, DCO Mohammad Siddique Memon and the district officers.
