DADU, Sept 10: Three passengers were killed and 17 others injured in a road accident on the Sehwan-Jamshoro section of the Indus Highway at Aamri village on Tuesday, police and rescuers said.

They said that a fast-moving passenger van overturned near Aamri village when one of its tyres burst.

Three passengers, identified as 45-year-old Lal Khatoon wife of Nathar Solangi, 22-year-old Sadaf wife of Mashooque Solangi and 28-year-old Qadir Bux Abro, died on the spot.

Seventeen passengers suffered injuries and were taken to Sann and Sehwan taluka hospital, where the condition of 10 of them — Qamaruddin Jhattial, Shafique Ahmed, Anwer Channa, Buxial Memon, Allah Dino Chandio, Mashooque, Mumtaz, Malookan, Jameelan and Aasia — was said to be serious.

In charge of the Edhi Centre in Sehwan Nisar Ahmed told Dawn that bodies were sent to their native village. The Aamri police impounded the vehicle and started an investigation into the accident.
