CHAKWAL, Aug 23: A man and a woman were killed in two separate incidents, police said on Friday.

In the first incident, Ghulam Murtaza, a resident of Roopwal Village, went to his son-in-law to complain about his behaviour towards his Ambreen, Murtaza’s daughter.

His son in-law, Mohammad Akram, had quarreled with Ambreen who had then gone to her parents’ house.

After exchanging harsh words, Akram, with the help of his father and a relative, started beating his father-in-law.

As a result, Murtaza was injured critically and was rushed to the hospital by his nephew but died on the way.

The police have registered a murder case against the three accused who managed to escape from the village.

In another incident, a man allegedly killed his married girlfriend and threw her body in a well.

The woman, a resident of Dhurnal Village, Talagang, had married three months ago, but had an affair with the accused and wanted to marry him.

On August 17, she came to her native village along with her husband to meet her parents and on Tuesday night, went to meet the accused but did not return.

Her body was found by her relatives the next morning in a well near the village, and her husband lodged a murder case against the accused.

“She was hit in the head with an iron rod or club which caused her death,” said Station House Officer Mubashir Ali Anwar while talking to Dawn.

He added that the accused had escaped from the village and the police would apprehend him soon. — Correspondent
