PESHAWAR, May 25: City District Council Convener Dr Iqbal Khalil, belonging to the Jamaat-i-Islami, on Saturday did not allow the council to discuss the damaging of billboards by Shabab-i-Milli and Jamaat activists on Friday.

The members wanted to discuss the issue shortly before the tea break, but they were told to take up the issue after it.

After the break, the convener adjourned the session sine die without letting the members discuss Friday’s incident, in which Shabab-i-Milli activists ransacked billboards of the local and  multinational companies in their campaign against ‘obscenity’.

Adjournment of the session surprised the members affiliated with the Pakistan People’s Party, the Pakistan Muslim League and the Awami National Party.

Earlier, the council constituted a price review committee to check the prices of food items.

District Nazim Azam Afridi will lead over the committee.
