KOHAT, July 26: Five members of a family were killed and ten were injured when a van collided head-on with a truck on the Indus Highway near Kohat tunnel on Friday.

The family returning from Dubai on vacations had hired a passenger coaster at Peshawar Airport for Hangu.

The van (LR-2629) collided with the truck (P-4248) while taking a sharp turn just after crossing the Kohat tunnel. As a result five members of the family identified as Nawaz Ali, Iqbal Hussain, Zulfiqar Hussain, Noor Sahib and Mohammad Waseem, died on the spot. The injured included Sher Zaman, Farooq, Basit, Shakeel, Malbaz Khan, Aqal Badshah, Faisal, Mohammadullah, Sher Baz and Tariq.The truck driver managed to escape after the accident.

The dead and the injured were shifted to divisional headquarters hospital Kohat. A case was registered in Riaz Khan Shaheed police station and both the vehicles were impounded.

CASE REGISTERED: The KDA town police on Friday registered a case into the missing of a Frontier Corps personnel after two years.

The case was registered on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan after his wife approached the court praying that his name be included in the missing persons list.

The court has directed the police to trace the FC man and submit a report within 15 days.

The FC man’s wife, Khatma Bibi, reported to the KDA police that her husband went to Al Shifa Hospital in Kohat from Bosti Khel area of Darra Adam Khel for check up two years ago.

However, she said he didn’t return home.
