PESHAWAR: The bench of the Peshawar High Court hearing the case pertaining to the ban placed on social media website, YouTube, expressed its disappointment over non-compliance of its earlier order and summoned secretary of information and technology on July 30, DawnNews reported.

A division bench of the Peshawar High Court hearing the case had earlier ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to submit a report pertaining to the closure of the Google-owned website.

PTA's Assistant Director of its Law department was present in the hearing on behalf of the telecom authority who informed the court that another case pertaining to the same matter was also underway in the Lahore High Court and that the next hearing of that case was on July 25.

He further requested the court to set the next date of hearing after July 25.

Chief Justice of the PHC giving his remarks said that the PTA appeared to be taking the issue non-seriously, adding that researchers were facing difficulties because of the blockade.

He further inquired as to why the PTA officials had not worked towards blocking blasphemous and objectionable content and the resumption of YouTube services.

PHC's chief justice said that other experts of the field would also be consulted over the issue.

The next hearing of the case was adjourned until July 30.
