KARACHI, Dec 11: Sindh health minister Ahsan Ahmad, taking a serious notice of increasing incidents of dog-bites in the city, has asked the City Nazim and other Nazims to fulfil their responsibility towards elimination of pye dogs.

He expressed his grave concern on 30 reported cases of dog-bites in recent days which included children as well and remarked that treatment of dog-bite is beyond the reach of the poor.

He stressed the need for eradicating the menace at the earliest and suggested that the newly-elected councillors should also take part in the campaign so that pye-dogs may be wiped out completely from all streets of city.

He observed that vaccine for dog-bite is very short in the country, hence he had personally drawn the attention of the governor and the federal minister for health and requested them to improve the supply of this vaccine.

He also emphasised in his letter that the main point is that mad dogs should be totally annihilated from the cities and towns. —PPI
