FC seizes 50 mortar shells from truck in Quetta

QUETTA: Frontier Corps claimed to have foiled a major bid of terrorism in Belili area of Quetta – the capital of restive Balochistan province – on Saturday evening.

Commandant Ghaza Band Scouts Colonel Maqbool told Dawn.com that FC has seized 50 mortar shells from a truck during a search operation in Belili area.

He said FC has also detained driver of the truck after the recovery of mortar shells. Maqbool stated that weapons were being brought from Pak-Afghan border for subversive activities inside Quetta.

He said the detained driver was being interrogated by FC personnel. Maqbool informed that the forces also recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the truck.

Balochistan suffers from ethnic tensions, sectarian violence between Sunni and Shia Muslims and a separatist insurgency which also targets non-natives.

Small separatist groups in impoverished Balochistan often target Pakistanis from other parts of the country. The separatists want autonomy and a greater share of the money derived from the province’s natural resources like gas and oil.

Gen Musharraf has done a good job he warned the bugtis and and then have cleaned them. We need Musharraf to come back and deal with these terrorist. He was real hero and patriot.

Its not the separatists, but rather the thugs sponsored by Bugti family/clan who is getting greedy and wants a bigger share or else. They don't share that wealth with any other Baluchis it only winds up in their bank accounts. They are trying to hold Pakistan and Pakistanis hostage. There is only one solution for this problem, and I think once you understand this issue, you'll know what the solution needs to be. Had they been sharing this wealth equally among the masses of Baluchistan from day one situation would have been different, but that is not the case. Bugti family should be tried for terrorism, murder, creating havoc and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, our judicial system does not have the guts to do so.

Close down the border for normal traffic until we sort out the issues, Afghanistan is the biggest supplier of terror activities in Pakistan. Also, confiscate any vehicle that transport illegal goods. Pretty soon the truckers will stop taking suspicions goods. In America any vehicle carrying drugs or illegal goods is confiscated and then auctioned to raise money to fight the causes.
