Aisam, Black reach French Open semis

SPORT DESK: Pakistani Tennis star Aisamul Haq Qureshi and his mixed doubles partner from Zimbabwe, Cara Black made it to the last four of the French Open on Monday.

The Pak-Zimbabwean pair defeated Nadia Petrova of Russia and Juan Sebastian Cabal of Colombia by 7-6 (5), 6-3 in straight sets.

The first set of the quarter-final lingered on for 47 minutes and the Aisam/Black pair faced stern resistance from their opponents until finally winning it on tie-break.

However, the Russian-Colombian team gave up early in the second set and lost it by 3-6 in 33 minutes.

Earlier in the day, Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina had defeated Aisam and Jean-Julien Rojer by 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (5) in a third round match for the Men’s doubles category.
