LAHORE: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, in a video-relayed appeal to the voters from his hospital bed, called upon the people of Pakistan to vote for change on May 11.

Addressing a crowd of some 25,000 supporters that had gathered in Islamabad’s D-Chowk on late Thursday night as well as millions of television viewers and web users, the PTI chief, dressed in a hospital gown, called upon the people of Pakistan to vote for ‘their future and their children’s future’.

He urged the voters to bring about a new Pakistan through the power of the ballot box.

Addressing the people of Pakistan, province by province, he urged them to shun politics of the old and take Pakistan towards a new direction.

Speaking to the people of Sindh, he questioned: “How long would you be giving votes and sacrifices on the Bhutto name?” He said that due to this approach, rural areas of Sindh remained one of the least developed parts of Pakistan.

When addressing the people of Karachi, he said that they should come out and vote on May 11 for a new path.

“Parties with militant wings and involvement in extortion can never end extortion and terrorism in the city,” the PTI chief said.

When speaking of Balochistan, he said that the oppressed people of the province must come out of the jungle that the local sardars have put them in.

“Vote for the party that will make a new Pakistan,” Khan said.

“The people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa and Fata have made their decision,” he said, adding that “they will come out and vote to bring peace and stability to the region.”

Dr P.N.Goswami M.D. May 09, 2013 11:12pm
Dear Imran,I am an Indian Doctor, have been working in middle east for more than 20 years. In 1994 I had fallen down from a height in Saudi Arab and fractured seven spine and a crack in the occipital region.I never drink alcohol or take any bad drugs and it was an accident and was admiited in King Khalid Hospital for 39 days.It was a terrific and sad period of my life,But by the Grace of Almighty I am perfectly okay and healthy except some minor health issues.till date.I am confident you will be perfectly fine but it will take some long time till the full recovery.Lilee had problem with his spinal column but recovered and had played a glorious long innings after his recovery.Insaallah you will be get well very soon .I shall pray for you---because prayers go up and the blessings come down.
Gazoo Martian May 09, 2013 11:28pm
get well quick Khan saheb. We want you to look good when you take oath as the first non-corrupt, honest, non-selfish, after a long time in the history of Pakistan perhaps after Liaquat Ali Khan.......
Khan May 09, 2013 11:25pm
Imran Khan you make to the seat of PM or not that depends on the people of pakistan, but you did reach to the heart of the nation..Those who dont vote for you are ignorant and those who will are still alive..all the best
Nasr May 09, 2013 11:24pm
You have said what was in my heart. This morning on the inaugration of the election monitoring cell of one of one TV channel I also cried too after listening to the children's "Lab Pe Aati hai Dua Ban Kay Tamanna Meri" A lots of thoughtS came into my mind for May 11 and after. May Allah bless my motherland with the best.
NL May 09, 2013 11:48pm
You cannot compare Imran with Jinnah! Although I support Imran Khan, and pray for his recovery, inshallah he will win the election...but do not insult Mr Jinnah pls.! He was Qaide-AZAM and went through way more sacrifices!!!! Imran himself should tell those few people who refer to him in this catagory to refrain comparing him with BABA-E_AZAM.... .
sfomann May 09, 2013 08:40pm
God has given us one more Jinnah. If you read the history of the world, leaders do not emerge every year. Perhaps may be once or twice in the history of a nation. We are lucky to have two in the last 60 or so years. I urge all Pakistanis to vote. Ask yourself before voting. What kind of country do you and your children want to live in the future. Do you want your children to follow the footsteps of the one you are going to vote for? If the answer is yes and whoever that may be, please vote for that person. God Bless this nation.
Gulbaz Mushtaq May 09, 2013 08:38pm
Dear Dawn Reporter... From D-Chowk to Savour Foods the Blue Area road was full (on both sides). You call them 25000????? Really???? Such a huge bias???? Stage was at D-Chowk and I could find place at China Chowk. There were minimum minimum minimum 250000 people. Please don't spread disinformation.
Srini May 10, 2013 01:33am
All is ok and well said,, but why you guys bring religious lines for every thing "Allah o Akbar ". Keep Religion separate from every thing mainly from education and politics.
Najamuddin May 10, 2013 12:01am
Entire Nation is deeply saddened on the most tragic accident of Imran Khan. May Allah bless him with speedy recovery with best of everything. With matured analysis it seems much unlikely that PTI could get clean majority to form a govt because the loyal supporters of PPP and PMLN are not less than the maximum expected voters of PTI to the best of general assessment. In the best interest of PTI and its workers Imran Khan should have made electoral alliance either with PPP or PMLN. to get clean majority and share of some ministers and governors. This would also give him exprience for future election.
Irfan May 10, 2013 01:12am
Don't be mistaken he is not Jinnah. Z
Khan May 10, 2013 01:22am
Good speech I have lot of hope from him but as a Karachiete I never heard a plan from Imran khan for Karachi about ending of quota system which put a bar on Karachi youth to get a job in government, hiring of local Karachiete in police as currently on fake PRC and domicile most of the police personnel from other provinces got job in Karachi , Karachi share from the revenue it generates, end of land grabbing and clearing of govt land from migrants of other provinces where illegal drug and arms dens are run by these migrants, operation against Taliban in Karachi and other burning issue which we are facing. in past when imran khan was captain of crocket team he showed his hate about players and even fans from karachi and couple of ugly incidents happens. Hope his mindset has changed. Appreciate if someone from PTI central committee share its manifesto about Karachi.
Khan May 10, 2013 01:25am
In emotion kindly do not compare him with Jinnah as morally Jinnah was on much higher ground than Imran. Yes in current lot of politicians he is the best and look sincere to Pakistan. Hope he wins.ameen
Saim May 10, 2013 12:02am
what 25,000 supporters ??? r u kidding :(
Jalaluddin S. Hussain May 10, 2013 12:03am
Pakistanis need to vote for a prosperous and strong Pakistan. As a Canadian-Pakistani I pray for a stable and independent country.
Muhammad Farooq May 10, 2013 12:48am
There is nothing permanent but change. Let us hope the change comes for the betterment of the weaker sections of the society.
Irfan May 10, 2013 01:10am

mohammed tanveer May 10, 2013 12:59am

Hasnain Haque May 09, 2013 09:11pm
I hope the Pakistanis will embrace new hope amd vote with their hearts and minds rather than their personal gains. For too kong Pakistanis have voted same old corrupt politicians for personal gains but they now have a choice to make things better for the whole nation and future generations. I hope this is a new beggining for Pakistan.
ahsan ullah khan May 10, 2013 04:46am
INSHALLAH Imran Khan will usher in Naya Pakistan !We need to give to our children the future they cherish and deserve ! May Allah Alway's Protect Imran Khan !
Riaz May 10, 2013 04:47am
The report says there were about 25000 ppl at D chowk. is that correct figure? if it is, then its a bit disappointing
Hassan Rasheed May 10, 2013 04:02am
Its high time that we exercise the simplest measure of sanity; that we stop repeatedly voting for the same people while expecting them to govern differently than they have done before. Vote for IMRAN, if just to punish those who have, more than anything else, woven INJUSTICE into our society's fabric.
havi May 10, 2013 03:48am
Overseas brothers, sisters and children of Pakistan, if you believe Imran Khan is your true, sensible and honest leader and you believe him then you should do what he did that's be present in Pakistan and hold the torch. PAKISTAN needs you to sweep out politics of dynasty, vadera and family name. Pakistan needs blood transfusion of fresh blood in arena of politics
Rahat Jamro May 10, 2013 03:38am

Mohammed May 10, 2013 03:26am
Irrespective of the fact that by far, Imran Khan seems to be the best and most competent leader in the current Pakistan political scenario, I have least hope that he would be allowed to take charge of the country given the fact that Pakistan unfortunately is too deep in corruption and nepotism. But lets keep our fingers crossed...
Azam May 10, 2013 02:48am
The Great Khan as energetic and charismatic as usual. We are so proud of you Imran, you are the Son of the Soil of Pakistan. O People of Pakistan. Sieze the moment in your favor. This is your chance, this could become your destiny. Go and vote for PTI. Do not be afraid. Do not have any doubt. Your destination is PTI. Vote for PTI. For God sake, this is your chance to change Pakistan for good....once and for all.
Sohail Hameed May 10, 2013 02:05am
The curse of Bhutto and Sharif brothers must come to an end on 11 May. We have suffered long enough at the hands of these self-appointed 'leaders' who in most cases are incompetent, ill-educated or simply 'jahils'. They have no worthwhile contribution that they can boast of yet Imran Khan has always excelled in whatever field he has elected to work upon. Vote for PTI if you desire a better future. Long live Quaid-e-Azam's Pakistan and Imran Khan.
Naseem Mian May 10, 2013 02:37am
We love you Imran, the only hope for my beloved country Pakistan.
Vote4Bat (@McPaindoo) May 10, 2013 02:18am
I was there at D Chowk and it sent shivers down my spine when we all took the oath for Naya Pakistan. And later when PM Imran Khan appeared on screen we all went ecstatic. You had to be there to feel the energy of the Tsunami.
Agha Ata (USA) May 10, 2013 02:10am
I hope that all those who came to attended Imran Khan's meetings and posted their comments here will all give their votes to Imran Khan, too.
Yawar May 10, 2013 01:41am
Imran Khan is the only politician who does not act, talk and feel only for his halqa, city or state. He acts, talks and feels for the entire country. He is the only hope for a united and progressive Pakistan free from grudges and revenge.
Asad Khan May 09, 2013 11:01pm
By some independent estimates, there were over half a million people there - a sea of red and green.
Amir May 09, 2013 09:33pm

Naila May 09, 2013 10:07pm
Way to go, Imran, our next PM, insha'Allah.
Khan May 09, 2013 10:03pm
Long live Imran Khan and the Naya Pakistan. People should rise beyond their rotten previous beliefs and start a New process by following him rather than beating the old drums. If people continued to vote for the Bhuttos, Gillanis, Sharifs, Rajas and the Zardaris, they will not be doing any justice to themselves but will be crying for the next five years.
hd May 09, 2013 09:48pm
So how did you come up with the number 25000?
alimaysa76 May 09, 2013 09:46pm
In my family of four everyone supports a different candidate. They all have their reasons and believes.I support Imran khan because he is the only politician who evokes national pride and a sense of better days. I have only heard of a peaceful karachi from my parents and grandparent. As far as I can remeber, each and every political party has abused its powers. I refuse to vote for people who were given a chance to prove their worth and abused it.I am willing to take my chance with someone who does not belong to a feudal system, nor a political or industrial dynasty or have been associated with our ever present Army.

Khan is our only hope . Wake up you educated lot& vote for him. How can anyone think of giving another chance to PPP or any otherparty when your eyes have witnessed the killing & plundering of our beloved Pakistan! At this point refrain from being blackmailed by political sorcerers' fake promises. Be alert & aware of the current situation which fluctuates from day to day based on various gimmicks used by political parties which are rife with people none other than junk that deseves to be thrown in the trash can. May allah guide us all in making a" Naya Pakistan"

Our new PM (Insha Allah) should lookafter himself and should not get hurt because of accidents like this which can easily be avoided if they take necessary safety assessment before climbing on the lift...He is the only one who says atleast the truth and i can feel his loyality to our country.
Zahid May 10, 2013 07:30am
By looking at comments below, looking at social media sights, talking to people on streets I see overwhelming support for PTI and Imran. why can't he sweep these elections? I would be surprise he doesn't. All signs pointing to a landslide victory unless establishment plays a game with Nawaz.Sharif.
Asif Ali (Madagascar) May 10, 2013 07:38am

Waqar Khan May 10, 2013 07:46am
We should have a State in which we could live and breathe as free men and which we could develop according to our own lights and culture and where principles of Islamic social justice could find free play, the words of our great founder of Pakistan...But these words are just written on a paper, or maybe in a book and yet anyone followed it? Where is the country that our founder dream about? Before you vote for anyone, think about what our leader and the founder this nation wanted for us? Don't vote just because of your personal prestige, or belonging or because your friend or family told you so....Vote for the candidate that you think is most qualified to honor our great founder's words. Vote for a candidate that is working for our national interest, who will secure a nation that is free, and that is stable. Vote for the candidate that want to remove the corruptions from the roots of Pakistan. Vote for a candidate that will held the Islamic Social Justice, that is equality, among everyone under the law; Not the one that just worried about the elite class, and himself. Look all the candidates and see which party has a system in which it promise that they will remove the corruption, impose proper justice, and make the whole nation pay the proper tax. I'm in the US, and believe of the prime reason this nation is economically stable, because all of it citizens are due to pay the proper tax, once the government can generate enough revenue, they will never go broke, and eventually will help its people accomplish the goals, and develop a free country, in which everyone can breathe as a free man, just like our great founder Muhammad Ali Jannah visioned.
Khalid May 10, 2013 08:09am
Long live Imran. Inshallah entire Pakistani Nation will heed your call of change and come out tomorrow for a change that you are dreaming. We all are tired of the old corrupt system.
