NAWABSHAH, May 8: A 20-year-old woman, Samina Jatoi, was shot dead on Tuesday by her husband, Meho Khan Jatoi, on the pretext of Karo-kari in Sardar Colony, Qazi Ahmed.

The killer managed to escape. An FIR has been lodged with the Qazi Ahmed police in this regard.

NAZIM: The district Naib Nazim, Khalid Hussain Channa, on Wednesday refuted the allegations levelled by a group of Awami Ittehad union council Nazims at a press conference the other day.

Talking to newsmen at the Zardari House here, he said that figures given by the Awami Ittehad Nazims were baseless and accused them of playing in the hands of a local landlord, who he said had been defeated by the district Nazim, Ms Faryal Talpur.

He further said that the district government was functioning smoothly under the provisions of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance.

He said that an amount of Rs2.6 million had been released for women councillors.
